This paper introduces the principle of tolerance definition,characteristics and application examples of the same size-basic shaft with the principle of different tolerance of and the allowable straightness error of each axis.These make technical preparations for the determination of dimensional tolerance and shape-position tolerances in the design of products and provide the theoretical basis for machining and inspecting the products.
