NF-κB is a polyphonic transcription factor. It is important for the expression of a wide variety of genes that are involved inflammatory and immune responses, and the regulation of cellular proliferation and differentiation. Studies have shown that NF-κB pathway participated in the regulation of encoding a variety of genes of inflammatory mediators in liver cancer and liver ischemia-repeffusion, such as: TNF-α, IL-1, ICAM-1 and INOS. Meanwhile, NF-κB also regulates the expression of ROS. Based on these reasons, this review summarizes the role of NF-κB pathway in the pathogenesis of liver disease, mainly including liver cancer and liver ischemia-reperfusion injure to explore the reasonable therapeutic target.
