RVF is a significant health and economic problem in many areas of Africa, and remains a serious threat to other parts of the world.The disease has been one of a global cross-border animal diseases needing priority prevention. This paper outlines the progress of its latest research in five aspects： epidemiology, the transmission risk factors, pathogenesis, diagnose and vaccine. The purpose is to provide a reference for a better prevention and control of the spread of Rift Valley fever virus.
