Qi and yin deficiency is the premise and foundation of latent evils in viral myocarditis. The real latent evils are dampness heat, phlegm turbidity, blood stasis and pathogenic toxin stayed at heart, pharynx, liver and collaterals, etc. Cleating and expelling latent evils should be used as the treatment principle throughout the course of the disease with different methods. The purpose is to give the evils a way out, and strengthen healthy qi and protect yin fluid.
