In the book Wuyintongyun of Qing Dynasty, the manuscript preserved in Japan, rhyming dictionary and rhyme table cooperate closely with each other and depend on each other. In this book, kai, qi, he, and cuo are designed; level tone is divided into yin and yang; voiced falling-rising tone becomes falling tone, entering tone is still maintained. As a significant document for the research of Mandarin phonetics evolution in China, it depicts an overall picture of Mandarin phonetic system of that time. This book is of great academic values for the research of the history of Chinese phonetics and phonology.
