The Great Gatsby directed by Baz Luhrmann is adapted from a novel of the same title by F. Scott Fitzgerald. But the main plot, atmosphere, figures and narration in the movie are quite different from the original novel. The director mis - handled the plot and vulgarized the theme of a "broken American dream". His disposals of the climax and some details are also not rigorous enough. It was due to his limited talent, as well as the need of flattering the market.
