Disgrace, by South African novelist J. M. Coetzee, is a masterpiece about a 52-year-old white South African professor who is expelled from the academic circles because of his sexual scandal with a female student. Lurie＇s romanticism pervades throughout the nov- el. The present paper is to show, from the perspective of Lurie＇s romanticism, white people＇s situation and plight in the Third World like South Africa under posteolonial context.
