Design idea, methods and the entire design process of the original factory reconstitution in No. 9 Xinghai Street of Suzhou were introduced. Based on the reliability qualification tests before reconstitution, more than 90% original structure of the factory was retained, making full use of the original factory＇s characteristics and structural surplus. Prefab square piles were used to strengthen foundations. Cast-in-situ concrete hollow floor structure was used to add floors. Detailed analysis and reasonable constitution were carried out for outside corridors, entrance hall and the hole in the inner courtyards. Analysis and calculation results of the overall structure before and after the reconstitution were compared. Different methods of connecting the new added floor and the old structure were provided. Additional qualification tests of the whole structure after reconstitution were carried out to ensure safety.
