The Developing Direction of Upper Secondary Education in China: Toward Comprehensiveness

摘要 制约我国高中教育发展的根本问题是普通高中与职业高中的二元对立。其根源是君主专制时代的阶级划分和旧式分工及由此导致的文化教育与职业教育、学术学科与实践学科、认识与行动的割裂。让这种二元对立继续延续,不仅阻碍我国教育民主化进程,而且影响社会进步与民主化。因此,走向综合化是我国高中教育改革与发展的必然选择,其主要内容包括:生成普通高中教育的"职业方面";生成职业高中教育的"学术方面";实现普通高中与职业高中的有效互动。 The fundamental problem that constrains the development of upper secondary education in China is the dualism between general high school and vocational high school. The root of this dual-ism is the old division of class and labor from the era of autocratic monarchy, which gave rise to the separation between cultural education and vocational education, intellectual studies and practical studies, knowing and action. If this dualism is being kept on, it will not only hinder the process of educational democratization in China, but also block the social progress and democratization. So, comprehensiveness is the laecessary choice of the reform and development of upper secondary educa- tion in China. This means that we should emerge the vocational aspect of general upper secondary education and the intellectual aspect of vocational upper secondary education, meanwhile, build up effective interaction between general high school and vocational high school.
