以韩礼德(Halliday)为代表的系统功能语法对语言学的发展产生了重大影响,也为英美文学作品的语篇分析提供了新的视角和方法。三大纯理功能即概念功能、人际功能和语篇功能的运用有效地揭示了文学作品中人物的性格。人际功能是语篇分析的重要手段之一,人际功能的实现在一定程度上取决于语气。文章以莎士比亚的经典剧作《威尼斯商人》为文本,对人物之间的对话进行语气解读,探究不同语气的使用在塑造人物形象方面的作用,从而为研究这部作品提供新的视角。

Systemic Functional Grammar, represented by Halliday, has a significant influence on the devel- opment of linguistics, providing a new perspective for the discourse analysis of the British and American litera- ture. Ideational function, Interpersonal function and Textual function provide new perspective for the study of the characters. Interpersonal function plays an important role in the discourse analysis. The achievement of Interper- sonal Function depends on the mood. Based on Shakespeare＇s The Merchant of Venice Antonio, this text will an- alyze the dialogue from the perspective of different moods, exploring the function of the mood in shaping the characters. This new perspective will provide a new understanding of the play.
