The form of software applications has been changed largely with the wide adoption of cloud-computing and mobile computing. In this paper, the understanding of data management in the new era from the perspective of industries is introduced, and suggests that some data policies and architecture decisions should be considered based on the different characteristics and specific scenario. In the end, the challenges and concerns are also discussed
