中国地球物理学会是在中国科协领导下的地球物理科技工作者的学术团体.1977年前后,中国科学院地球物理研究所一分为二,被拆分为中国科学院地球物理研究所(院所)与中国地震局地球物理研究所(局所),两个地球物理研究所组建前后曾有过一段人们尚不十分详知的历史变迁,但中国地球物理学会却始终挂靠在中国科学院地球物理所,并与中国科学院地球物理研究所共同发展与成长.
