On Deng Xiaoping's “Three-Face" Theory and Creativity-oriented Higher Education

“教育要面向现代化、面向世界、面向未来” ,表现出邓小平同志高瞻远瞩宏大宽广的政治家胸怀 ,体现了他注重教育的时代性。贯彻邓小平同志的指示 ,一是要树立改革创新意识 ,二是要建立国家教育创新体系 ,三是要大胆改革 ,四是要加强党的领导。

Education must face modernization, face the world and the future.' Deng Xiaoping's proposition well portrays him as a great statesman with a wide vision and clearly illustrates his notion that education must meet the needs of the times. To faithfully carry out his instructions, we should: 1) be creatively-minded with an enhanced awareness of the need for reform; 2) establish a nation-wide system of creativity-oriented education; 3) launch bold reforms; and 4) strengthen the Party's leadership.
