Transformations of the public schools in St.Louis city from 1865 to 1885

南北战争之后至19世纪80年代以前城市化、工业化与移民浪潮开始影响整个美国社会的发展。在这一阶段,美国圣路易斯城市学校管理的改革与学校系统的整合突出了对秩序的追求。同时,公立学校管理者通过强调工业社会的道德教育,试图回应宗教力量的攻击并逐步澄清公立学校理念。此外,圣路易斯公立学校中德语教学这一移民融合措施经历了一系列的兴衰。通过对圣路易斯公立学校变革的案例研究,能够从一定程度上反映这一时期美国教育的发展状况。

This article reviews the post American civil war, the industrialization and immigration, and the St. Louis public school reforms from the year 1865 to 1880. Meanwhile, the public schools attend to the moral education in the course of industrial society. Through a case study of St. Louis public school re- forms, this study is intended to reveal the history of the American education.
