With limited library materials budgets to acquire electronic books, academic libraries have to overcome challenges to meet both the immediate needs of users in the digital age and achieve cost-effectiveness. This paper discusses two Demand Driven Acquisitions (DDA) pilot studies at the Chinese University of Hong Kong Libraries, explains the workflow of Evidence-based Selection and Patron Driven Acquisitions, and analyses the DDA results from various aspects such as overall usage, cost per use as well as the sustainability.
