亨利·罗斯在他的名作《就说是睡着了》中以现代主义的写作手法表现了一个犹太逆子的欲望追求。然而主人公的欲望追求最终化为一场空无甚至灾难。主体在犹太文化和基督教文化的二重父法中经历欲望的缘起与破灭,最终只是在象征界桎梏于重重的文化枷锁中,遭遇回归本真自我,追求自由意志的不可能性。
