Wenlock Edge by Alice Munro depicts the young narrator's quest for identity. This paper analyzes the characters from the perspective of city space and body ethics as the reflection of social status, identity and inner mind of the characters. Specifically, it discusses the dressing body and the sensing body which reflect the world view and choice of value of the characters, and the space as the extension of human body, which shows the relationship between characters and their psyche. Through close reading of the details in the short story, the paper reveals the narrator's psychological process from realizing the ethical dilemma to under- going crisis of ethical values and finally to reconciling with changed ethical values. The analysis helps the reader to understand the artistic characteristics and aesthetic values of Alice Munro's short stories.
