The contemporary American Feminist Literary Criticism emerged over forty years ago during the second wave of the feminist movement.It is distinctively political and inherently subversive,for its reexamination of the literary tradition,literary history,and literary works from the feminist perspectives,and its challenge to the traditional literary canon built on the patriarchal cultural bias.The feminist literary criticism absorbs various western literary theories and approaches and has constructed its own.This article examines the multiperspectives of contemporary American feminist literary criticism to demonstrate its revolutionary significance,rich components,and evolutionary developments.
