摘要
湖北、四川等地管红薯叫"苕",湖北等地"苕"这个字还有"头脑胡涂,不明事理"的意思。本文试图论证:指红薯的"苕"是"山药"两个字的合音,原来指山药,后来引申出"红薯"的意思。"苕"指红薯以后,又引申出"头脑胡涂,不明事理"的意思。
People in places like Hubei and Sichuan call hongsh u （红薯） as＂shao （苕） ＂, and the word ＂shao （苕）＂ also means ＂muddleheaded, unreasonable＂ in places like Hubei. This paper tries to argue that the word ＂shao （苕）＂ with the meaning of hongshu （ 红薯） is a sound compound word of ＂shah （ 山 ）＂ and ＂ yao （ 药） ＂. ＂ Shao （ 苕 ） ＂ originally refers to shanyao （ 山药） and then extends to mean ＂hongshu （红薯） ＂. After ＂shao （苕）＂ refers to （红薯）, it again possesses an extended meaning of ＂muddleheaded, unreasonable＂.
