In this paper, a solid and finite element model of metal pushing belt type continuously variable transmission (CVT) was established at speed ratio of i =0 5 and i =2 0 on the basis of the peculiar transmission mechanism of CVT. In order to solve the problem of the complicated structure, the node node rod discrete finite element model was put forward and the whole system was simplified as well as its finite element model was built up. The natural frequency of the system was solved by iterative Lanczos reduce method for sensitivity analysis in finite element model. The new method as well as the results can be used to improve the smoothness of the variable transmission system and are proposed as a theory for reducing noise during operation.
