Economist Xiaoxi Li contemplates that on the whole, China's economy will head for the better. GDP growth will repeat or even surpass last year's pace, due to the following: this year's maintenance of the international economic environment's momentum; this year's policies being more favourable to economic development than those of last year; last year's economic development offering a better foundation for the current year; the improvement of China's economic infrastructure reaching a peak this year, after years of effort; the possible entry into WTO this year and its potential to boost the economy; and Western development programmes forecasting a possible significant progress.
