The condition requirements of elevator leveling and re-leveling with the door open are listed according to GB 7588-2003. The detection device of elevator leveling and re-leveling with the door open is identified as an electric safety device. The design of the detcetion device according to the relevant safety codes for elevator and machinery is discussed, and a design example is given in this paper.
