Interaction and Alignment: An Effective Approach to Dialogue Interpreting

对话的本质是互动与协同。交流双方通过对话相互作用,相互影响,不断增进理解,达成共识,并最终实现交流的目的。在对话口译中,译员的任务就是通过与交流双方分别对话互动,增进理解,达成共识,并在此基础上,促成使用不同语言,属于不同文化,有着不同经历的对话双方在对话互动中不断协同。作为听者,译员在与说话者的互动中实现对口译内容的理解,并与说话者达成一致;作为说话者,译员根据听者的知识和阅历选择表达的内容和方式,并在与听者的互动中不断进行调整,实现契合。这就是对话口译的有效路径。

Interaction and alignment is thc core of a dialogue.In a dialogue, the two parties interact with each other to enhance comprehension, reach common ground, and realize the purpose of communication. In an interpreter-mediated dialogue, the interpreter＇s task is to interact with both parties in separate dia- logues, to help them increase comprehension, and to bring about consensus. Based on the two separate di- alogues and through their dialogue interaction, the interpreter facilitates alignment between the two parties of different languages, different cultures, and different backgrounds. In interpreting, the interpreter as a listener understands the words spoken by the speaker and reaches agreement with the speaker through in- teraction ; the interpreter as a speaker reaches consensus with the listener by choosing the content and style of speaking according to the listener＇s knowledge and experience, and revising his or her speaking in the process of interaction. This is the effective route of dialogue interpreting.
