顾祠会祭中的西北史地学人

Gu Yanwu's Shrine and the Scholars of Northwest China Geographical Historiography

鸦片战争落幕之际,北京的一批士大夫以建祠和定期会祭的方式,发起对顾炎武的纪念活动,当时研究西北边疆史地的几位重要学者尽在其中。依靠顾祠连接起来的人际网络,越来越多的学人投入到关于西北的研究之中,而西北边疆的知识也赖以流传,参与形塑着晚清汉族士人的帝国想象。顾炎武之于西北史地之学的意义,除学术榜样之外,更代表着对王朝的忠诚与士大夫的政治觉醒,这种象征意义折射出边疆研究与道咸政局的关联。

Like Gu Yanwu, they followed the method of textology and were independent researchers in political geography. Their identity as Han official, combined with their enthusiasm in politics, brought the knowledge of northwest borderland into the mainstream of Han culture. The knowledge was widely circulated via the networks of Gu＇s shrine, and contributed to the worshippers＇ identification and imagination of the Qing Empire.
