Textual Research on Yu Xuanji's Birth Place

目前有较多的研究鱼玄机的论文认为鱼玄机是长安平康里娼妓,或曾在妓院聚集地平康里生活过,因而认为鱼玄机是平康才女。说鱼玄机出身"倡家女",的确有文献依据,缪荃孙校补、皇甫枚撰的《三水小牍》中就有有关的记载。然考察《太平广记》、《北梦琐言》等文献,可以发现《三水小牍》原本应为"(鱼玄机)长安里家女",而非"倡家女"。且从有关文献可以看出,鱼玄机早年生活的地方有三种可能:常安里,亲仁坊,新昌坊。通过对有关文献的研究,其中可能性最大的当数亲仁坊,而不大可能是平康里。因此,不能说鱼玄机是平康里才女,要说只能说是亲仁里(坊)才女。

At present, many essays studying Yu Xuanji think that she was a prostitute in Pingkang Lane of ancient Chang＇an, or had once lived in Pingkang Lane, which was known as a district inhabited mostly by prostitutes, thus these essays regard Yu Xuanji as a talented woman in Pingkang. There are some records in certain literatures supporting the idea that Yu Xuanji was a prostitute in ancient China, for example, those in ＂Sanshui xiaodu＂, which was written by Huangpu Mei and proofread by Miao Quansun. However, if we refer to the literatures such as the ＂Extensive Records of the Taiping Era＂ and ＂Bei Meng Suo Yan＂, we can fred that the original text of＂Sanshui xiaodu＂ said that ＂Yu Xuanji was a woman living in a lane of Chang＇an＇, not ＂a prostitute＂. And based on certain literatures we can also find that there were three possible places where Yu Xuanji might live in her early years, that is, Chang＇an lane, Qinren Lane and Xinchang Lane, in which Qirtren Lane was the most possible one, while it was not likely to be Pingkang Lane. Therefore, the author thinks that we had better call Yu Xuanji a talented woman of Qinren Lane instead of that of Pingkang Lane.
