摘要
等待时间是教师提问研究中的重要部分,但目前对外汉语教学界对于等待时间的研究停留在统计等待时间数值上,缺乏深入的比较与分析。本研究尝试通过比较6名对外汉语熟手教师和6名新手教师在课堂操练中的等待时间,探讨问题类型、教学经验与等待时间的关系。研究结果表明,课堂操练中,无论是在总体平均值上还是在不同类型的问题上,熟手教师的等待时间都要比新手教师的短,且熟手教师的等待次数也少于新手教师;出现这些差异可能与教师提问方式、问题本身的质量以及教师课堂应变能力有关。
Many overseas studies show that students's achievements are related to the in-class wait-time on the part of the teacher. As a kind of teacher behavior, wait-time has attracted the attention of TCFL study. However, the research about wait-time in China is still lacking in empirical investigation. This paper then presents an empirical attempt to analyze the wait time in beginners' TCFL practice class by using the variables of wait lapse, types of teachers and of questions. It is found that experienced teachers tend to wait less frequently than novice teaehers and that they allow shorter wait-time when they do wait. The differences can be explained in terms of the pace of the class, the nature of the questions to be answered, as well as the teacher's ability to handle the class.
