Objective: To investigate the effect of social support interventions on postoperative patients with gastric cancer. Methods: 116 postoperative patients with gastric cancer were randomly divided into observation group (58 cases)and control group(58 cases). The control group was only received routine nursing care;the observation group, on the basis of routine nursing care, were treated with social support interventions, the intervention period was 6 months. Adopting questionnaire method, applying MUIS Scale and Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)to evaluate and compare each dimension difference of illness uncertainty and social support of the two group patients. Results:In the observation group, each dimension score in MUIS after intervention was lower than before intervention(P〈0.05);the total score of subjective support and social support in SSRS were significantly increased than before intervention (P 〈0.05). In the control group, the dimension scores in MUIS and in SSRS showed no significant difference when compared with before intervention(P>0.05). When compared between groups, each dimension score in MUIS and in SSRS after intervention showed significant difference(P〈0.05). Conclusion:Targeted social support nursing interven-tion for postoperative patients with gastric cancer can significantly improve patients’social support level, reduce ill-ness uncertainty level, help patients establish a correct health concept, and actively and effectively respond to disease.
