The municipal functions of Wuhan as the biggest central city in Central China have constantly been brought into play. On the arrival of the new century, Wuhan must face the challenge of new economy that is taking shape and draw up its developing strategies that are in keeping with the global trend, so that it can set the aim of further elevating its municipal functions and make greater contributions to not only Hubei Province and Central China but also the whole country.
