再论唐代“贫女难嫁”现象的成因

The Causes of “Dii culties for Poor Women to Marry” in the Tang Dynasty

唐代中后期"贫女难嫁"现象的形成除受前期山东士族嫁女他族索财风气渐染民间的影响外,还有更为广泛和深刻的原因,主要是唐代中后期科举制兴起引起的婚姻重"嫁妆"习俗的普及、出嫁女生活中占主导地位的家族权力从"父权"到"夫权"的变革和战争所导致的社会动荡。

The phenomenon of ＂it is difficult for poor women to marry＂ in the middle and late Tang Dynasty was not only caused by the atmosphere that ＂natives marrying daughters while the other groups accumulating fortunes＂, it was also influenced by more profound factors. Mainly it is because of the popularization of dowry customs triggered by imperial examination system in middle and late Dang Dynasty. It is also due to the social instability resulted from the transformation of family power from the authority of father to husband, which plays a leading role in the lives of the marrying daughters.
