Turkic languages obey a strict agreement rule. Traditional grammarians always try to explain this kind of agreement in the syntactic domain, that is, they limit their description only to the agreement of person, number and vocative form (mainly for the second person) occurring between possessor and possessee as well as subject and predicative verb. In this paper, however, the author employs the Chomskyan Probe and Goal theory of generative grammar, and attempts to prove that in the Turkic languages such as Uyghur and Kazak, agreement not only occurs on the syntactic level but also on the phonetic level.
