Brief Analysis of Translation Methodology

在讨论翻译性质是科学的还是艺术的的时候,人们往往容易忽略一个问题,即翻译与翻译学的区别。前者指翻译本身,其任务是进行两种语言的转换活动;后者指对这种活动所做的研究,目的是揭示翻译活动或现象的客观规律。翻译研究中的理论偏颇多来自对这两个概念的混同。由此,本文反思译学方法论的研究,提出回归翻译本体、关注翻译主体、更张翻译研究范式的主张,根据译学之显隐特征,构思了三维分析法和三元复合结构图,用于改善译学观念。

The difference between translation and translation studies is often ignored in the discussion on whether translation is a science or an art. The former is translation itself, which aims at translating one language to another. The latter is studies on this activity, which aims at revealing the objective rules of translation as an activity or phenomenon. Theoretical errors in translation studies are often caused by the confusion between the two concepts. Therefore, the author of the thesis intends to reflect on translation methodology to bring forward a series of opinions such as a return to translation ontology, the focus on translation subject and the change of translation studies’ paradigms. Biased theoretical ideas in translation studies are often the consequence of confusion between the two concepts. The author has come up with a three-dimensional analytical method and a ternary composite structure in order to improve the concept of translation studies.
