Xu Lingtai is a famed medical critic and a clinical master of Qing Dynasty .Born of a notable and well-educated family ,Xu Lingtai is literate and has a great command of Confucianism .Besides that ,he is famous for his remarkable knowledge , outstanding leechcraft and prestigious literature , be learned and clever . Xu Lingtai has made great achievements in the medical field with the method of source tracing and evidence attesting ,in the attitude of preciseness and deliberation ,and in the spirit of critical thinking .Based on Xu Lingtai’s medical works ,this paper expounds the characteristics of his pursuit of studies and the cultural significance behind it .
