By the end of 2013, 3.37 million people in Shandong completed the registration of young volunteers. The total number of the volunteers hit 900.8 billion and the total number of service hours hit 1.38 billion. More and more people join in the volunteer service undertakings. With the volunteer spirit of 'dedication, friendship, cooperation, and progress', the volunteers interpret the beautiful content of the name 'Shandong Young Volunteers'. Facing the new pattern of volunteer service development greatly promoted by the whole of society, Shandong Volunteer Action Guide Center actively expands the work field, enriches the work content, completes the working mechanism, and attracts a large batch of young volunteers to provide service in many fields such as helping the weak and the poor, assisting handicapped or elderly people, community service, ecological construction, large-scale activities, disaster relief, social management, cultural construction, developing the west, and overseas service. It gives full play to the function of social service of the young volunteers. Shandong young volunteers are gradually becoming an important force in the social public service field and providing active positive energy in the construction of a harmonious society.
