A candle is lighted in the six-sided paper lantern. The heat increases the air flow and the turntable begins to revolve. A paper man sits on the 'carrousel' and revolves ceaselessly. This is the revolving scenic lantern made by Sui Shubi, an old farmer of Xiabuqian Village, Zeku Town, Wendeng City. Sui said that in the past, the revolving scenic lantern could only be seen in the palace on the fifteenth of the first month of the lunar year. From the Han Dynasty, every Lantern Festival people always hung up various lanterns to pray that the country be prosperous and the people live in peace. The revolving scenic lantern was the best of those lanterns. To hand down the workmanship of the revolving scenic lantern is the biggest wish of Sui Shubi. In his spare time, he teaches the young, middle-aged, and also the old people how to make the lantern. He wants to pass on his skill of this traditional art to the younger generation.
