乡村女性作为20世纪乡土小说中的一个特殊群体,她们是"三纲五常"、"三从四德"等封建礼教的遵从者,但是在新思想、新潮流的影响下,她们一步一步地从封建礼教中挣脱出来。然而,相比于同时期的都市女性,这群来自底层的女性身上显然少了些许自觉性,她们是逐步地"被解放"的。随着社会的进步,乡村社会的各个领域也呈现出从未有的复杂多元,进而呈现在我们视野中的乡村女性已然是血肉丰满的形象。

The rural women, as a special group in the vernacular novels in the 20th centupy, are followers of feudal ethics like ＂the three cardinal guides and the five constant virtues＂ and ＂ the three obediences and four virtues （ Confucian ethics） imposed on women＂.
