“搠渰”辨释

An Analysis of the Word“Shuoyan”

"搠渰"一词,其中"搠"字本无"装作"之义,"渰"字本无"痴傻"之义,但细察二字成词生义过程,其间几经转化生成的脉络清晰,"装作痴呆"之义明显。另若结合汉字偏旁互换、词义对举相关知识,由此深究,亦可探晓仅有偏旁之细微差别的"■""搠"二字实为异体关系。

At first sight ,“shuo”in the word “shuoyan”does not have the meaning of“pretence”, and “yan”does not mean“stupidity”.But a closer look at the process of its morphological and se-mantic formation and changes makes it clear that the word does have the meaning of “pretended to be stupid”.Coupled with the knowledge of the exchange of Chinese character radicals and se-mantic j uxtaposition,we can see that the two characters “shuo（[朔廾]）”and“shuo（搠）”are allografts with only subtle semantic difference.
