The dosage of classical prescription has always been the hot spot problem of the past dynasties doctor research. In recent years, with the deepening of the research, converting the dosage of original records to modem measurement research has great progress, which now tends to the records of one tael is equal to 13.92g or 15.625g. But the author believes that, under the premise of drug administration in ancient and modem medicine, it can't simply be translated the dosage of ZHANG Zhong-jing period to the current clinical practice. That is to say 'one tael is equal to how many grams' can not be the equivalent of 'one tael is equal to how many grams being used'. This paper refers to the previous research results, on the basis of conversion as 'one tael is equal to 13.92g or 15.625g'. Through comparing ancient and modem decoction, the differences of taking medicine, and drag dissolution rate, the author proposes that conversion range of one tael being smaller than 5-8 grams or 6-9 grams is accorded with current clinical practices. However, in view of other special drug administering methods and the differences existing in prescriptions, routine methods and dosages of taking medicine, such as, twice a day, can't be used mechanically.
