遗传学不是研究左拉作品的要害。《卢贡家族的命运》两大主题:暴露政府军屠杀民众起义军的凶狠残暴和政客们在动乱中钻营投机的卑鄙无耻。皮埃尔·卢贡家族的幸运,不由遗传决定,是他政府里有人(内线)、第三者的鼓吹以及时局变幻,满足了他的自利野心。遗传科学知识是左拉认识人、洞察人、了解人、表现人的艺术视角,从而赋予他的文学创作以科学色彩。

Genetics is not the key works of in the study of Zola. The two main themes of the novel La Fortune Des Rougon are to reveal the cruel violence the government troops made in massacring the civil insurrectionary arms and the despicableness and shamelessness the politicians showed in securing personal gains in the unrest. Pierre o Rougon＇s family fortune was not genetically determined, but done through someone in the government （planted a- gent）, the third party＇s advocating as well as the current changing situation, all having satisfied his selfish ambition. Scientific knowledge of genetics is Zola＇s arts perspective of understanding, examine and describing people, thus adding scientific colors to his literary creation.
