How to comprehend and apply the national treatment principle correctly is a vital problem concerning whether China can effectively lighten the pressure of opening its own market exerted by the developed countries, and whether China can effectively protect its domestic industries. In this paper, the concept of the national treatment principle and the real attempt of American government's demands such as “market entrance” has been analyzed, and the ways of applying the national treatment principle to safeguard the interests of state has also been put forward on the basis of Japanese experience.
