An Insight into the Toponyms in Suining Area under the Perspective of Linguistics

地名作为表称空间位置的符号,有着重要的社会文化内涵。从语言学视角考察睢宁地区地名,通过实地调研、查阅历史文献,总结该地区地名的一些构造特点和发展演变规律。这些特点和规律有助于人们了解睢宁地区地名所反映的淮海黄泛平原地区的自然地理特征与社会文化风貌,对当地相关部门的地名管理工作也会起到一定的启示作用。

Toponyms are cultural symbols representing the spatial locations, which have important social and cultural conno tations. This paper studies the toponyms in Suining area under the perspective of linguistics, and concludes several structur al attributes and regularities of the toponyms, by means of looking up historical documents, as well as field research. These attributes and regularities can help people see the natural geographical features and social cultural scenes of regions on the extensive Huaihai Plain and will enlighten relevant departments＇ work of managing the toponyrns in the local place.
