摘要从性别视角梳理、解读爱默生的作品、日志与信件,还原了一位开明、温情、慈爱的爱默生形象。他对女性的特质、美德与贡献的肯定,对女性追求与男性平等权利的鼓励,对爱情中灵魂交融的执着,以及他对婚姻的赞美和责任都一扫独居离索、冥思苦想的超验主义者的冷峻和乏味。几位重要的女性成就了爱默生,塑造了他关于女性、婚姻与爱情的观点,这在其书信与日志中有充分地体现。 A careful reading of Emerson;s journals and letters from the gender perspective brings to life a liberal, tender and loving Emerson who praises women＇s special traits, virtues and contribu-tions to human civilization and thus encourages them to pursue equal rights with men. Emerson also prizes true love based on the communion of souls and the loyalty and responsibility in marriage. This reverses his known grim and insipid image of a typical solitary and meditative transcendentalist. Some important women in Emerson＇ s life shaped his views on women, love and marriage which find ade-quate expression in his letters and journals.
