River' s End, as one of LI Yong-ping' s best novels, proves that LI is good at plotting, constructing stories with grand narratives and pursuit of literal pure Chineseness. If we read it under the theoretical structure of "colonialism", we can find that he not only represents colonial chaotic phenomena of great history, but also presents the rebirth of personal growing up and self-education. Certainly this includes both de-colonialism and post-colonialism. Furthermore, in this novel,LI shows his tendency of putting down roots in Taiwan although we know that Li is good at writing "travelling native- ness ".
