With an analysis of the design of Jinling Art Museum, this paper points to n the treatment and articulation a new tendency of materials in contemporary architecture under the influence of archaeology. This tendency has led to new architectonic rationales and spatial characters. Jinling Art Museum＇s daring experiments in this tendency will shed fresh light on contemporary architecture and place-making.
