On the US foreign language education policies in the early 21st century

本文研究了美国21世纪初(2000-2013年)的外语教育政策。文章梳理了美国这一阶段的主要外语教育政策,归纳了其积极影响,剖析了其存在的问题,阐释了其对中国外语教育规划的启示,并具体对中国外语教育政策的制定、内容、执行等方面提出了建设性意见。

This paper focuses on the US foreign language education policies in the early 21st century （2000-2013）. It clarifies the principal US foreign language education policies during the very period, analyzes their positive effects, and addresses their deficiencies. The paper further explores their implications for the planning of China foreign lan- guage education in terms of policy making, policy content and policy implementation.
