魏晋南北朝是中国历史上一个动乱的时代,政权由统一到分裂,阶级和民族矛盾尖锐,战争频繁不断,经济不景气,社会极其不安定。但由于诸多原因的影响,这一时期在艺术领域却出现了新的局面,美术创作飞速发展。魏晋南北朝绘画继承和发扬了汉代绘画艺术,呈现出丰富多彩的面貌。除有民间画工之外,士大夫也积极参与美术活动,绘画得以蓬勃发展。陆探微创造的"秀骨清象"概括了同时代社会名流的类型,与外部交往的扩大,促进了中原文化与少数民族文化、国外文化的交流,更丰富了传统的表现技法,孕育着唐代绘画新面貌的产生。

The Wei Jin Southern and Northern Dynasties is a bad times in Chinese history： the divided regime, classes and ethnic conflicts, frequent wars, the economic downturn, and the unstable society. But due to many reasons, in the art field a new situation emerged, the art creation develops rapidly. The art style not only inherited the style of Han Dynasty, but also showed vari- ous styles. In addition to the folk paintings, literati also actively participated in painting, so painting flourished. Lu Tanwei created the＂ simple paintings with clear skins＂ which summarized the types of celebrities, expanded external communication, promoted the exchanges between the culture of the Central Plains and the minority culture and foreign cultures, enriched traditional techniques, and had the new face of the Tang Dynasty paintings.
