《释氏六帖》作为一部中土佛教类书,所叙录的内容极为广泛,不仅有大量的佛教掌故和术语,而且有各种各样的人文掌故,更有丰富的古代科学技术的知识。从现代科学的角度,即天文历法、地理、数学和物理、生物、医药卫生、纺织、工艺制造七个方面,分类总结此书在古代科技方面的主要成就和贡献,以丰富和深化中国古代科技史的研究。

Shishi Liu Tie, as a Buddhist Encyclopedias of ancient China,includes rich contents that there are not only a lot of an- ecdotes and terms of Buddhism, but also abundant knowledge of science and technology in ancient China. The paper summarize the book＇ s main contribution on the science and technology of ancient China by seven aspects , such as the astronomy and calendar, geog- raphy, mathematics and physics, biology, medicine, spinning, weaving and manufacture. It will enrich and deepen the study on the science and technology in ancient China.
