This article describes the general clinical symptoms, research status in etiology and pathology ,the prevention and treatment approaches on parotitis of Trionyx sinensis. Viral infection,bacterial infection, environmental factors and other factors are elaborated. The current methods to treat and prevent the disease in production are summarized. The disease name ＂parotitis＂ should be questioned. An urgent problem is study of the disease models.
