Objective:To observe the effects of combined use of atorvastatin calcium with vitamin C on the microinflammatory state in patients under main-tenance hemodialysis(MHD).Methods:Thirty-four patients receiving MHD over half a year were randomly allocated to atorvastatin group(Group A),vita-min C group(Group B)and vitamin C plus atorvastatin group(Group C).Each group were determined regarding the indicator lipids(including TG,TC, LDL-C,HDL-C),nutrition index(including Alb,RA and Hb)and inflammatory factors(CRP and IL-6).Results:After 3 months of therapy, the levels of TG,TC,HDL-C and LDL-C were significantly improved, and the nutrition indexes(Alb,PA,Hb)were gradually elevated in group B and C compared to pre-treatment(P<0.05),and group C were more prominent than group B(P <0.05).The levels of CRP and IL-6 were distinctly decreased compared with those maintained 3 months before medication, with greater improvement in group C than group B(P<0.05).Conclusion:Combined atorvastatin cal-cium with vitamin C may effectively inhibit the inflammatory response than single dosage of vitamin C for patients receiving MHD.
