Considerations Concerning Speech Island and Sociolinguistic Research in China:A Review of Beijing Mandarin Speech Island

文章重述社会语言学方言岛研究的历程,分析中外方言岛称谓的构成及其称谓演变的历史,评述我国新近出版的方言岛研究专著《北京官话方言岛研究:清东陵和清西陵的满族汉语》(2012),反思社会语言学的历史,指出重新考察中国社会语言学历史的学科史意义。

It is of great significance to recover the history of speech island studies as a subfield of Chinese sociolinguistics,to analyze the definitions,terms and history of speech island,to evaluate and comment on the recently published Beijing Mandarin Speech Island:Manchurian Chinese Studies in Eastern and Western Qing Mausoleum Communities(2012),to consider the development of sociolinguistics as a separate discipline,to reveal Chinese tradition of sociolinguistics in restructuring the history of sociolinguistics in China.
