Objective To investigate the curative effect of adjustable and gravitational siphon at low-pressure on idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (INPH) patients. Methods Respective analysis was made by using the clinical medical data of 22 IN- PH patients treated with low-pressure gravitational siphon and 19 INPH patients treated with adjustable medium-pressure gravitatal si- phon. Of all the 41 cases, 22 were male and 19 were female, with an average age of( 71.0 ± 5.6 ) years old. Results In the long-term follow-up, of the 22 patients treated with adjustable and gravitational siphon at low pressure, 18 well responded to the treatment, with an effective rate of (81.8%), and of the 19 patients treated with adjustable shunt at medium pressure, 10 responded to the treatment, with an effective rate of (52.6%) . And statistical significance could be noted, when comparisons were made between the groups(P 〈 0.05 ). Conclusion Adjustable and gravitational siphon at low pressure could produce good effect on INPH, and at the same time could reduce risks associated with excessive drainage.
